Climate change and sustainability is becoming more of a pressing issue. We look at recycling as a way to reduce general waste which is contributing massively to the environment. It is your individual responsibility to make sure you're doing your bit to be as green as possible.
What are we doing to be green?
- We have reduced our general waste by 50%, it is rare we fill our office bin with general waste but we fill our office recycle bin twice the amount.
- We no longer allow paper brochures, they're sent digitally.
- We ensure we switch off all electrical points/lights that are not in use and use LED lighting.
- We ensure all our customers are qualified to ensure we are only using our vehicles where necessary.
- We ensure our tenants receive a recycling poster so they know to recycle and what they can and can't put in their recycle bin.
- We inspect that our tenants are trying their best to be mindful by reducing general waste and using their recycle bin supplied which we check on our property inspections. We ensure they aren't contaminating waste.
What is expected from Occupiers -
- Making sure the items they put in the recycle bin are allowed as per the Bradford council poster.
- Disposing of large items correctly (this might be your local tip). Bulk items like mattresses or Sofas can't be just left outside.
- Put bins out on the right days and early enough for the bin men to empty them.
- Donate items to local charity shops / clothes banks.
- Sell or give away unwanted items online.
- Try and fix broken items before disposing.
It is important we try our best, if not the measures will only tighten by the council. We need to make sure our country but mainly our local community stays on track with saving our planet.
