WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RENTERS (REFORM) BILL

We are sure by now a lot of people are aware of what is happening in the Houses of Parliament in regards to the changes that have been proposed specifically in the property rental sector. In this blog we will highlight the things you need to know about.

  1. Abolishment of Section 21 'No Fault' Evictions/Notices
  2. Grounds of Section 8 to be strengthened
  3. Landlords to sign up to a new ombudsman
  4. Landlords to register on a new property portal
  5. Landlords and Agents to give two months notice for rent increases
  6. Tenants notices to move out to be two months
  7. AST (Assured Shorthold Tenancies) will become periodic
  8. Landlords having to allow pets unless they have a 'reasonable refusal'

To conclude, we have taken on a lot of landlords making the switch from self managing to having a hold your hand letting agent. This helps as you are given guidance through all these changes.
